Art-Walk Kit

When I go out walking with the intention to draw, I pack my kit into a small backpack. It fits more than my everyday art kit, so you know I’m going to pack more in!

I add to my everyday kit with watercolour paper in various sizes, ink pencils, paint pens, small bottles of fluid acrylic paints and inks. Other important items are bulldog clips, hair-ties, hat and water bottle. I did recently go for a walk on a hot day and realised 20 minutes from home that I’d packed painting water (about 50 mL / 1.7 oz) but no drinking water…

My top tip is to pack a sarong! Handy as a picnic blanket to throw over prickly ground or a grotty park bench. It’s light to carry and doesn’t take up much space in my pack.

Having an art-walk kit helps me combine exercise with my daily art practice. Must be a win-win.
