Everyday Art Kit

If you’re a busy person who wants to create everyday, you need to have art materials with you everywhere you go. This can be as simple as a pencil or ballpoint pen and the back of an old envelope. As a mixed-media artist, I carry a bit more. OK, a lot more! But it all fits into my smallest handbag along with my other essentials.

My everyday art kit is a tiny sketchbook, sturdy pencil case, small spray bottle and purse-pack of tissues. The pencil case contains a carbon pencil, three watercolour pencils (yellow, magenta and cyan), an alcohol marker (Prussian blue), white gel pen, small paintbrush and a pencil sharpener. The lid only just closes, so long as I put it all back in the right way.

A selection of mixed-media art supplies sitting on top of a large clutch-purse that has capacity to contain them.

My everyday art kit fits into my smallest handbag, or my largest clutch.

Drawing on the go teaches me to look for interesting subjects wherever I am, and to be inventive with the materials I have available..

Even if it’s just a five-minute squiggle, I hope you can take time to draw today. I will for sure.
